Domain policy to auto-add Network Places

Anyone out there added the network place for your sharepoint server (ie,
http://server/wksp) to a domain group policy object so your users wouldn't
have to do it (especially new hires)?

I want to do this, but...

1) I've never done it
2) I'm always interested in finding out others' experiences

If so, where did you add it in the group policy?

You can set up a domain policy to add it to their favorites and also
make it their default web site if you like. Edit either the default
domain policy or the policy for whatever object(s) you want to make the
changes on. Edit the policy in question and select USER CONFIGURATION|
WINDOWS SETTINGS| INTERNET EXPLORER MAINT and then FAVORITES AND LINKS
on the left pane...

Right, but how do you add a network place for them? Adding to favorites and
making home pages is one thing, but in order to use sharepoint properly,
users have to do two things:

1) Install the sharepoint client components
2) add a network place to http://server/wksp <http://server/wksp>

Step 1 is accomplished in many ways, either through login scripts, SMS,
publishing applications, etc. I can't figure out how to do step 2.

This will get you closer. Maybe someone else knows how to take this
code and completely automate it. This still requires a click by the
user. Anyone? Anyone? Beuller?

You will want to change http://laptop12b/operations to the URL of the
web folder you want to create:
