Where does SharePoint store additional user profile properties?

Asked By: Kara    Date: Jan 08    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2432

We are using SPS 2003 to build our portal. We have added many
custom fields (properties) to the individual user profiles. We know
that SharePoint is storing the data as we can see any new or
modified user data on the Edit Profile page, and again on the public
view of the MySites. We need to programmatically access this data
(using VB.Net) but cannot find the table where the custom data is
stored in any of the three SharePoint databases. We have found that
the PropertyList table in the [PORTAL NAME]_PROF database contains a
list of all the new fields we are using, but there is no
relationship indicating where this data is stored. I'm asking for
any help available. This is becoming very frustrating, and may
cause a deadline slip.

Directly accessing the database is discouraged and may invalidate your support
agreement. The recommended way to access this info is using the SDK. You can
download the documentation from
-789B827967B0&displaylang=en - search for the
Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.UserProfiles namespace for all the options.
