Documentation on SharePoint High Volume Limits

Asked By: Nadia Alvarado         Date: Jan 15, 2008      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 238

I have a project underway to accommodate a new customer who wants to use SPS
2003 to store 3-4 million documents. These paper documents are currently stored
in an underground storage facility and will be converted to a scanned electronic
format (TIFF or PDF).

Can someone point me to SharePoint documentation that will provide guidelines
for handling this large number of documents? Will SPS 2003 be able to handle
this volume of documents? Would we have to move from a medium to a large server
farm to accommodate this request?

I'm especially concerned about content database configuration, indexing and
document library limitations. We currently have a medium server farm with a web
server, index server and database server.
