Document Template Libraries

Asked By: Parvesh Sukhtankar         Date: Jul 07, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 477

We are implementing a solution in moss where each department site will have a document template library that they will manage in respect to versioning and permissions.

We also have a top level portal dedicated to aggregating documents that have a wide usage scope. We would like to create some kind of list or library at this central top level site that will contain pointers to all templates in all other sites. The concept is to have a central directory of all document templates.

Is there a document library or list configuration method to display documents from all sites? We prefer to have a doc library so we can apply views and etc.

You would normally use a content query web part fot this. It's not as user-friendly as a list, in terms of creating views.

There is a codeplex project that enhances the CQWP here: http://www.codeplex.com/ECQWP
