Document Meta Data

Asked By: Stewart    Date: Oct 16    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 957

I wondered if anyone knows or has done any development with adding meta
data to documents in the document libraries?

Basically in SPS you can upload a single doc and it asks you to add some
meta data for example owner, description etc, I want to know if there is
a way to add more options to this and have it prompt each document when
its to be uploaded or a new document?

In WSS it doesn't allow you to do anything like this at all is there a
way to add the same thing as am asking for in SPS???

Your comments would be greatly appreciated

Add the custom properties you're interested and mark them as mandatory. Then WSS and Office 2003 will always prompt  for them.

Actually, there are several ways to upload documents  that bypass the population
of mandatory properties: Explorer View, My Network Places, Multiple File Upload,
etc. I think that all of these rely on WebDAV in some way.
