Make document libry link open to remote offsite address

Asked By: Wendy    Date: Jul 27    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 842

I have done some serious modifications on our site but for documents
we have changed it to "Employee Information"

for general doc, projects, presentations have all been changed to
something else.

Now I would like to add in
"offiste address"
"another offsite address"

we have other software companies that our users use that goes to those
companies web address to obtain that info. Since this is employees
information that they need we want to add the address in that area.

So my question is how can i change the a document library that shows
in the quick launch bar to link to an "offsite address"

I’m not sure if this is what you want, but you can create a text file with the following commands:

<META HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT = "0; URL= http://www.microsoft.com"><head><title>Microsoft Home Page</title></head>

Save as an HTM file, and upload to a document  library. When you click on the file in the document library, it will redirect to remote  address.

Yeah this is what i have done so far. I set it in Explorer view cause
when its in ALl Documents view and you click the html file it opens in
the same window. Changing to explorer view and clicking makes it open
in a new window.

I would however like to still know if there is a way to just have it
when you click on the item in quick  launch that it just opens a new
windows to a new site.

could you use frontpage to modify the document  list library  in the quick
launch window to just open  to an outside website when clicked on?
