Document Library and Survey List...

Asked By: Palash    Date: Aug 25    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2181

I was wondering how to and where?

1. I uploaded a document to the document library in the share
point, the file exists in share point, but i could not find the
physical location where the document is stored, I searched the
server with the file name but could not see the file.

2. I created a WSS site which has a documet library and a survey
list added to it.

I can open this site in front page but i could again not track the
physical location of this site.

I need to make a few custom chages to the Survey List.

When the user responds to a survey he is redirected to the following

http://<<server>>/sites/<<site name>>/Lists/Vote%20and%

when the user fills in the responses for the survey and clicks
the "Save and Close" button the user is guided to

http://<<server>>/sites/<<site name>>/Lists/Vote%20and%

page, i need that the responses be saved and then the user be
redirected to a custom page such as confirmation.aspx.

How do I achieve this?

Where is the responses which the user adds to the survey stored?

I would appreciate any help or pointer on this.

1) Documents are stored  in the SQL Database. In the Content database
there is a Docs table that has a binary field which has the file  data.

2) The site  templates are stored in c:\program files\common
files\microsoft shared\web server extensions\60\templates\1033. Once you
make a change to a page  the changed page is then stored in the SQL
database and all future requests to the page are served out of the SQL

You can edit the http://<<server>>/sites/<<site
name>>/Lists/Vote%20and%20Review/NewForm.aspx page in Frontpage 2003 and
check if you can modify the page so that it redirects you to your custom
page when you save  and close.

Once the result is saved  it is also stored into the SQL database.

A couple additional points
- The location  of template files is dependant on the language - 1033 is
- Changing the OOTB templates is not suggested, as there is no guarantee that
they will not be overwritten by subsequent service packs and upgrades. You
should consider creating new templates in the default location for your
customized pages.

1. Which product are you using Sharepoint Portal or Windows Sharepoint

2. Data is stored  in a SQL database (SQL Server 2000 or MSDE). In order
ro redirect a survey  to a different page  you need to add ?source=URL to
your confirmation  page. When user  click on Save and Close it will be
redirecter to whatever the source= is
