Document Library Filtering Issue (2003)

Asked By: Alec    Date: Aug 18    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 836

I have a question for someone who has ever presented a Document Library
on a web page but filtered to specific metadata. Here is my scenario, I
have a large list of documents (no where near capacity - only about 500
items) in a single library. When these documents are loaded to the
document library, we tag it with several metadata tags so we can display
them based on several criteria. When I put this document library on the
home page, I use a filtered view. So far so good. However, what I want
is to display three separate type of documents under this single
instance of this doc lib. When I go into the Filter part of the view, I
state to show everything for a specific product type AND a specific
content type. For a single content view it works fine, however, I have
two additional content types I want to present along with the one I
already have. So I add another column as an OR logic and repeat the
same product type with another column set as an AND logic for the next
content type. I would suspect it should filter out each of them in
turn, but what happens is that I only see the last filtered pair.

Does anyone understand why this is happening. My workaround is to place
as many doc libs on the home page for each filtered choice. Not a
terribly clever design.
