Document Library – Connect to Outlook – Bandwidth issues?

My Company is about to start setting up our Sharepoint Server and I
have some reservations regarding the Connect to Outlook feature.

Are there any serious issues with leaving this feature enabled?

My biggest concern is having large document libraries and then several
users attempting to connect them simultaneously, could this slow our
server to a crawl and seriously slow down response times for other
users currently working within Sharepoint?

Could anyone point me to any pages discussing this as a possible issue?
I was at one of the Mindsharp seminars and the instructor mentioned
this as a possible issue.
