Document Author and Versioning

I have opened the 'Share Documents' on a client system using two domain
user-IDs, once simultaneously and once one after the other.
The user IDs are 'User1' and 'User2'.
Now, if I login as 'User2' and create a new document, the 'Modified By'
column shows 'User1'.
But when I check-out, the 'Checked Out To' column shows 'User2'.

I could not understand this clash. I checked by using just single
browser with only 'User2' account. Still the problem continues.

Please note that 'User1' is part of 'Administrator' site group and
'User2' is part of 'Contributor' site group.

On the same lines, I have another problem:
With the login of 'User1', If I create a document with 'Add Document',
the 'Modified By' column shows 'User1'; But if I drag and drop few files
in the 'Explorer View', the 'Modified By' column shows 'User2'. How is
this possible?

Could you describe in more detail exactly how your login are occurring? How
many client computers for the 2 users, what authentication type, who is logged
into Windows, etc?
