Document archive solutions and object level restores

Asked By: Grace Lewis         Date: Oct 31, 2007      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 371

I'm looking for various solutions regarding archival solutions
available for MOSS 2007. They currently use EMC Centera for tiered
storage to store less accessed and older documents for unstructured
data. We are implementing MOSS07 and wish to archive documents
stored within the SQL database for Sharepoint. Is there a compatible
solution that will create a pointer within the SQL database to the
tiered storage and still be compatible with the Sharepoint
application?

Next, on the subject of DR, is there any solutions out there that are
compatible with MOSS 2007 that can perform object-level restores of
documents stored within the Sharepoint/SQL databases? I heard
ComVault Galaxy works for SPS 2003, but I cannot find confirmation
for MOSS 2007 compatibility. Also, if the customer does not
enterprise backup software with object-level restore capabilities, is
there a best practices for setting up a DR MOSS07 environment for
restoring of documents from older SQL databases?
