Display profile field in list - WSS v3

Asked By: Arielle Wolf         Date: Oct 15, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 228

I have a custom list in WSS v3, and have been trying to display a
field from the users profile. Specifically I'm trying to display the
department field in a list. I'm guessing this is going to required a
fair amount of custom code to make this happen, but would like the
experts opinion on how to takle this.

How do the items in the current list  relate to the user's profile? There's
a lookup field  type that might work for you, and if not, there are some
third-party cross-site lookup field types that might do the job.

Actually we are using the time
management template from Microsoft. there is a list  named time log, and
within that list I create a view named by month and by week. i created a new
column in the list (person look up), and selected the department field. Is
there something more that should be configured to pull the data in?
