Display multiple columns in checkbox choice field

Asked By: Caitlin    Date: Sep 08    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 5070

I have a custom list with 2 choice fields, each of them will have ~ 100 entries and the user must be able to select multiple choices. As these fields display one choice per line, it makes the entry form VERY long ... is there a way to force these fields to display 2 or 3 columns wide?

In WSS v3, you can use a custom field  type.

JavaScript baby, loads of JavaScript. Seriously, you could rewrite the
client-side DOM after the page is finished loading.

The problem with doing it with javascript (or anything else for that matter) is that you have to edit the page with FrontPage to get it to affect the "New" item and "Edit" listing, or have it affect all lists using that definition by adding it to the template ... not an option here, unfortunately.

You can implement JavaScript at many different levels, not just the
instance page level. A JavaScript solution could be implemented at the
direct-mode page level, the site definition level, or even the farm
level.

My blog post is about CSS but could just as easily been about
JavaScript:
