Display columns while uploading documents depending on the choice made

Is it possible to hide or display columns depending on choice made by a drop down column while uploading documents.

Has anybody done something similar.??

This is possible but would take some time to generate an adequate
response. Can you ask a more specific question?

I have a drop  down column  while uploading  documents,I need to display  or hide columns  depending on what the user chooses in the drop down column.

Any idea how this can be done..??
