I have Office XP SP3 installed on my laptop along with IE6.
When I choose the "Discuss" option from the edit menu of a document in a
document library on my Windows Sharepoint Services site I get the
following error:
"This document cannot be discussed for one or both of the following
reasons:
- A Windows Sharepoint Services-compatible discussion client is not
installed
- Either your browser does not support ActiveX controls, or support of
ActiveX controls is disabled".
I have Windows Sharepoint Services (using a remote SQL Server 2000
database) installed on Windows Server 2003 Standard.
I found a document which compares Office integration for WSS across the
2000, XP and 2003 releases and this document suggests that Web
Discussions should work with Office XP.
I have also checked my browser settings and these appear to be fine.
Do discussions only work with Office 2003? Or should they work with
Office XP as the document I found suggests.
