Disbled PST files workaround

Asked By: Alexandria    Date: Jul 11    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2001

In the WCM Dev class a couple of weeks ago, we had a discussion around
PST files. Many shops disable local PST files because they present a
lot of support and governance issues.

I found a workaround if you have office 2003 sp 2 and higher here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/897658.

In short, there's a registry key called AlwaysAllowSharePointPST that
allows creation of PSTs for sharepoint while still disabling other PST
files.

Obviously, it doesn't correct the inherent limits in the integration of
Office 2003 and Sharepoint, but it will at least allow it to work.

Just thought I'd pass this one on for the good of the order...
