Disabling My Site and My Links

Asked By: Rikki    Date: Jul 17    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1206

I have come across stuff about Disabling MySite and MyLinks on the net
and I was able to make them both disappear from all pages successfully.
But when I click on my username on the top (Welcome UserABC, it opens a
page that has my details on it. I thot it really disabled MySite,
causing the username to be normal text and not display itself as a link.

Anyone know hows to really disable MySite?

The profile page you are seeing is not a MySite. Every user in SharePoint
will have a profile page that displays information about that user. What you
see when you do a people search, etc, and click  on the user is this profile
page. If there is no profile, there will be no audiences as SharePoint pulls
its audience members from the profile information. So, while it looks like a
MySite, it isn't really.

and there's actually just a single page, person.aspx (i think) that displays the
profile information of the user passed in the query string.
