Disable wss_adminservice.log

Asked By: Stacey    Date: Jan 30    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1831

I've been investigating the wss_adminservice.log file on a few
sharepoint servers. I've found a few posts that mention setting the
READ-ONLY property so nothing is written or deleting with a script.
That is a couple workarounds, but I'm trying to just disable it.

The file is created on w2k3 boxes because wssadmin.exe can locate the
path. I checked a few w2k8 boxes, the file is not created. According
to Process Monitor from sysinternals, the wssadmin.exe process is
trying to create the file, but the path is not found on w2k8.

I tried adjusting diagnostic logging, but this does not make a
difference. Is there some registry entry or undocumented switch to
not have this log file created and info added to it.
