How to Disable Subscribe

We have taken away the Reader role for Everyone on the Portal Content folder
to keep users from subscribing to Announcemnet, Events, and News items. This
keeps Portal Content from appearing as afolder in the Document Libray on the
Dashboard site. The causes a slight problem in that Authors for Announcments
and Events cannot edit the items once thye have been created if the item
start date is in the future. They can go directly to
http://[server]/[workspace]/Portal%20Content/Announcements/ and that folder
will open in the Document Library web part where they can shgow actions and
either update the file or change the start date to now and then edit the
item in the Announcements web part.

The problem with this is that it exposes the Subscribe to this folder and
Subscribe to this file.

I'm thinking about changing FileInfoPart.xsl and FoldItemPart.xsl to disable
the the subscribe link if the folder is Annoucements, Events, or News and
changing FoldItemPart.xsl to disable the the subscribe link if the file is
an Annoucement, Event, or News Item.

Any thoughts??
