Directory Management Error

Asked By: Fredrick    Date: Sep 09    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 625

Sharepoint logs generate a "General access denied" error when I try to
add users to a distribution list.

The OU is owned by the APP Pool Service account for central admin. The
distribution list aliases seem to be owned by a different account: the
app pool service account for the portal.

Can anyone explain this?

I have had the same problems with 50% of the recent test farms I have built.
When I get back to a place where I can do some testing, i will see if I can
figure it out. Stay posted...

I didn't have the OU Set Up correctly. It doesn't matter that the OU is
owned by the central  Admin service  account, you still have to delegate
the service account access  to add and remove members from the list.

Also, I think at this point, I did not have the Timer Service configured
with the central admin  Service account.

I'm still having trouble integrating Directory Management to work with
Exchange server, or to work at all within our byui.edu domain, because
messages have to be delivered to moss1.byui.edu and distribution  groups
have to end in @byui.edu.

More to come later.
