Digital signature in Sharerpoint

Asked By: Lll    Date: Dec 30    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 60492

Is it a possibility to use Digital signature in sharepoint List?
I need to create a List or a page with materials for employees and need to know who viewed it and who didn't and to know if he/she accepted meterial(changes).
Please advise how to do it best way.

As of now, SharePoint doesn’t offer this facility out of the box. You must get it custom developed or buy a third party tool for this purpose. Zac Mullet custom signature field is a good one. You could also do it yourself but it will involve a lot of coding time so better get a third party pre-developed tool for this.

Most of the users confused between Digital Signatures and Electronic Signatures. Digital signatures mostly used in applications like word or PDF and can embed the signature within the document (the hash, not just the hand written signature) and it requires dedicated server to hold the signatures database and the certificates.
Electronic Signatures used to check if the data altered after someone signed it. If someone changed the item after it signed then the signature invalidates.

Therefore, Zac Mullet's custom signature field is actually an Electronic Signature Field and not Digital Signature.

Digital Signature solutions can be very expensive and they usually priced very high (more than 20K), on the other hand Electronic Signatures priced usually under 1k.

We also have a similar solution called Infowise Electronic Signature Field. It also supports Topaz signature pad.
