Different version in MOSS farm after installing Infrastructure Update

Asked By: Brittanie    Date: Nov 27    Category: MOSS    Views: 3145

I have 2 WFE servers in a MOSS farm. After I installed the WSS & MOSS
infrastructure updates (released in July 2008), I checked the server
version (CA-> OP-> Servers in Farm) and found that one of my WFE still
has version and the second WFE (where I re-configured MOSS)
has version

So far, everything runs fine.

Did I miss a step?

Should I be worry?

You must run Configuration Wizard on all servers. If you already did,
check the Upgrade.log file for errors. By default, Upgrade.log is
located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server

It appears like one of the servers  is missing the Windows SharePoint Services IU
and not just the SharePoint Server one. IIRC, Central Admin only shows wss
versions and not MOSS versions. Or, the wizard didn't complete on the first
server in the install.

It turned out that I have to run the SharePoint Configuration on both WFE
servers. (I didn't have to do that when I installed  SP1).

Yeah, I had the same issue when I applied it a few days ago.

The IU updates  executable needs to be run on each server before running the
configuration wizard to finish the installation. You should run the updates on
the WFE with the lower version  and re-run the configuration wizard.
