Difference in MOSS and Sharepoint

I am new to Sharepoint.

1) can anybody tell me the difference between MOSS and Sharepoint?

2) Configuration required to WSS 2010 with OS,Database

To best of my knowledge there is no such difference we can classified between MOSS and Sharepoint.

Sharepoint is name of technology, while MOSS is version of sharepoint product. Please refer below link to understand what is Sharepoint all about.
