Difference between a Site and a SubSite in sharepoint

Asked By: Conrad    Date: May 02    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 4722

What is the difference between a Site and a SubSite in sharepoint, though
both are represented as SPWeb in the object model? Why do we need subsites?

subsite  is a site. As you said, both are represented by SPWeb in the object
model. The only thing you may have to consider is the site  hierarchy (root
site, child sites, grandchildren, etc).

I'm not sure, but the terminology may go back to the SPS 2003 days.
