Diassalow Create Site on a Sites Page

Asked By: Gonzalo    Date: Aug 24    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 682

Could use some input form the team on this one. Under the SPS platform on the SiteDirectory page there is an Action on the Quick Launch area called Create Site. We want to be able to disable that for select folks (we have a designed application that will create sites automatically based on a series of templates -- It uses impersonation techniques to run). We do not want folks to use the Create Site command because we want them to use this application we designed. We tried setting the Managed Security settings to as low a setting that we can set but they are still able to execute the Create Site action.

Remove the Create sites  permissions from every site  group in the portal. That will disable  this link.

You can remove the Create site  permission at the site level be editing the permissions for the Site Group. This permission is not available at the area  managed security  level.

You can also disable  Self Service Site Creation in the central portal administration, and you can control the permissions for all site groups (including Admins) in central portal administration.
