So do I need to re-install IIS and
other components?

I guess I should have performed the "Typical configuration for a
first server" before installing IIS and ASP.NET.

Yes you will need to roll back ...

Unfortunately, you have to install  and setup AD first, before step #3 so you
need to roll everything back to that point, install AD/DNS/DHCP then
continue on through the list.

it I will install  exchange as well.
