How can I determine if all Alerts are being sent correctly?

Asked By: Tyrel    Date: Feb 17    Category: MOSS    Views: 580

We've been having some issues with Alerts since we migrated from WSS v2
to MOSS 2007. It appears now that Alerts are being sent, but I'm still
struggling to know if all of them are being sent correctly.

Does anyone know of a way to determine if all the Alerts are being sent
and not just some of them? Are there database tables that would help
show some of this information?

You can try to add yourself to some of the alerts  you want to verify.
So you will receive the same emails when others do.

I'm able to see all the Alerts that are going out. I'm just trying
to figure out if all the Alerts are being sent as they should. We
seem to be having issues  where not all of the Alerts are being sent,
only some. To me, there just doesn't seem to be an easy way to
determine if my Alerts are actually working like they are supposed to
be.

Can you check the logs on your mail server? You should be able to see when
emails are sent and to who.

We actually know that Alert emails are being sent. We can see all of
those. I have record of all of those. That is not our problem.
That problem is that SharePoint is not initiating Alert emails for
things that it should be, so "some" of our Alerts are not being
sent. I want to find a way to compare what SharePoint "should" be
sending Alerts for and what it is "actually" sending. Does that make
sense?

For example, I have a site that I've setup an Alert on 3 different
lists. The Alerts are supposed to be initiated on any change and
sent immediately. When I change something on all 3 lists, I'll
sometimes get 2 of the Alerts and other times I'll only get 1 of the
Alerts. It is not consistant.
