We have a fairly simple Designer workflow that stops (but only
sometimes) for no apparent reason. there is no error in the workflow
history it just stops (but only sometimes). I have not found a pattern
to the stopping except that it always happens in the same place.

the workflow is simple.

1. auto started on item adding
2. collects data from user (creates task)

3. condition based on task
4. updates original item with task data

5. sends email
when it stops it always stops after the completion of 2 but before 3.

any ideas?
