Deployment

Asked By: Tameka    Date: Nov 14    Category: MOSS    Views: 528

We use the deployment feature of SharePoint 2007 to deploy sites from
our authoring to our production environment. Now, we would like to
deploy a complete site collection the same way.
Is that possible (the beginning and end of a deployment path is a site
collection)?

If it isn't, is there a way to create a new site collection in our
production server from our authoring environment (different SharePoint
farms)?

Content deployment  requires that the target site be empty (Blank
template at minimum, no template works too.) for the first deployment so
if that target is the root of the site collection, the source site
collection is deployed. You do not have to deploy the entire site
collection but that is the default.

but the target site collection must exist for the deployment  to take place?
The target site collection must be created by another mean?
