Default Values for a DataFormWebPart

I have a page with a Calendar control and a DataFormWebPart. The calendar
control is used to populate the DataFormWebPart, but only works with the
Selected event, the DFWP is initially empty. I would like the DFWP to be
populated initially with the current date.
