Default Content Access Account

Asked By: Bryson Callahan         Date: Jun 25, 2007      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 1938

- In SPS2003 I have an account configured and specified as my
"Default Content Access Account"

- At one time I had specified the password and confirmed when I
was configuring the farm

- I have forgotten the password.

Question is: Is there anywhere in SharePoint dB or config files where
I can view/retrieve this information??

Or is it all hashed up and encrypted whereby I cannot recover it?

The password  would not be held by SharePoint. Instead, SharePoint
references the information in AD. You're question  is really this: can
you recover  a password held in AD?

Why not just change the password  in AD and SharePoint.

There is a KB article on this.

Yes.. I'm sure this will work.

However, my question  was not looking for a solution. The intent of the
question was just a cover or front to understand a different concept.
(sneaky eh?)
