Default columns in Lists

Asked By: Jada Clemons         Date: Jan 19, 2011      Category: Sharepoint 2010      Views: 230

Is there a way in 2010 to create a default set of columns that should be
included in all Lists ? We want to have Make, Model, Title, Serial etc on all
Lists and it would be good if they were always there.

Any ideas?

Use site columns and content types.

Then when you create a new list, base it off the content type.

You could create a list with the columns you want, configured as you want,
and then save that as a template and create your new lists from that
template.
