Database for SharePoint evaluation

I am leading a pilot project to evaluate SPS for managing documents
in my organization. One big part of the evaluation is search
capabilities.

If we decide to adopt SharePoint, we will use SQL Server. However,
our admin has set up our evaluation portal with MSDE. What features
does SQL Server provide (other than more room) that MSDE does not?
What are other limitations of MSDE?

MSDE (MSDW) is limited to 2Gb per databases, in addition MSDE doesn't support full text search withing Windows Sharepoint Services (WSS) which will prevent searching inside Sites and workspaces (WSS), however the main portal  search will still be allowed in Sharepoint Portal Server. Lastly MSDE doesn't have any admin  tools available.
