Database Migration Problem - Solved To Appointment

Asked By: Ojas    Date: Feb 11    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1026

Here is what we did:

Our production SPPS 2003 involves a separate Web Front End Server and separate
SQL 2000 server. We restored from a backup to separate WFE and SQL servers. We
upgraded the SQL server to SQL 2005 and then ran stsadm -o upgrade
/forceupgrade. Then we ran prescan.exe successfully. We detached the ..._SITE
and ..._PROF databases and copied them to our MOSS 2007 Farn SQL Server and
attached them.

We ran stsadm -o addcontentdb .... to add the content database to the web
application and then ran stsadm -o retoressp .... to attach the _PROF database.

The portal migrated rather well but a custom list definition did not migrate
properly. As a result, our team sites show the custom list when you view all
content but if you try to go to the list you get a
.../_layouts/spsredirect.aspx?oldUrl=http.... that goes nowhere.

I thought I would just create a new custom list in MOSS and save it as a
template. So far so good. When I tried to delete the custom list that was
migrated improperly so I create a new list with the old name, I could not find a
way to delete the list. When I go the Site Setting and try to use the Content
and Structure link ( /_Layouts/sitemanager.aspx?Source=/_layouts/settings.aspx
), I get a Exception from HRESULT: 0x81070215

Ideas please???
