Asked By: Neil    Date: Mar 09    Category: MOSS    Views: 848

We doing a database migratrion from SPPS 2003 to MOSS 2007. We restored to a
migration portal. Upgraded to SQL 2005. Detached the _PROF and _SITE databases
asnd copied them to the MOSS SQL server and attached them. When we run stsadm -o
addcontentdatabse...... the teamsites get upgraded but none of the top level
portal or any of the areas do not upgrade. The only errors in the upgrade.log
are about mysites.

When you do a database  migration upgrade how are you creating the Web
Application that you are upgrading to? Create it with a temporary
content database but don't create a 'Top Level Site Collection' like
it asks. Drop the temporary db before you run addcontentdatabase on
the _SITE db. We've upgraded many sites this way without issue.

The _PROF database can be upgraded but should be your SSP Content
database. There is no need to upgrade the _SERV db from what we have
found.
