Data type limit in surveys

Asked By: Mindy    Date: Mar 13    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1120

I had a user creating a new site yesterday and needed to use all Yes/No questions. They received an error when trying to create the 17th question, saying the data type limit had been exceeded. Is this a hard coded limit or is there a way to get around this? I created a test survey just be sure of the limit and received the same error.

SharePoint maps fields into a predefined table. It has 16 bit fields in it … so the 17th field would cause a problem.

Two thoughts …

1) Use Choice fields with a Yes/No set of choices. (I know not as pretty but it will give you just shy of 64 options.)

2) Use an InfoPath form...

I believe yes/no questions  in the same survey  are hard  coded to a 16 question  limit.
