Data retention for compliance

Has anyone had to implement a solution for retaining data to comply with SOX? If so, what type of system or solution was used, and any pointers for implementation?

We had to do this recently. After the SOX review we pulled the Site Collection
out and we made a DVD with Virtual PC and a VHD of a system that booted up,
loaded WSS and the site. They like it, and it's completely self contained so it
should be easy enough to bring up, should we need to.
