Data Protection Manager 2007

Asked By: Eddy    Date: Sep 21    Category: MOSS    Views: 825

Back on to the backup/restore topic. I've recently been speaking with one of
my key technical resources from Microsoft and he's really touting MS's Data
Protection Manager 2007 to handle our MOSS 2007 backups. Evidently it can
easily backup (and then of course restore if necessary) your entire MOSS farm.
Further, it leverages technology whereby only delta changes are backed up after
the initial baseline backup is taken. This definitely minimizes the need for so
many resources and sounds to be really slick.

Does anyone out there use this or have experience with it in the MOSS world?
I know that it's used in the Exchange and other MS platform world, but we're
interested in it for our MOSS realm.

Thoughts? Input? Advice?

Note - my MS rep is working on getting a Live Meeting together to show me the
merits of this very soon so I will also report back my observations after that

Its a new product 1st release as I understand it

I would guess if it follows microsofts 3rd release being the best then I would
stay with a traditional vendor for now
