i have learnt that microsoft has itself used the "Features" feature in
MOSS to develop lists, document libraries, issue list, dashboard etc ...
But these features seem to be grouped in built-in site templates like
publishing site, report center, document center etc.

For example, "create dashboard" is only available in "Report Center"
template.

Is there a way i can use a feature from one template, like dashboard
feature, in a blank site or publishing site template? writing my own
site definition might be a solution to this, but i am looking for an
easier way.
