Customizing SharePoint Portal Server 2003

Asked By: Elton    Date: Mar 08    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 6576

Our old web developer/designer left our company and we are trying to
modify some information on our corporate home page (Portal 2003).

We have managed to make a small change in the default.aspx file by
opening our corporate portal in SharePoint Designer. This works when
some view it but not for others.

I suspect that it is because we have 2 front end web servers setup with
network load balancing and some are retrieving the page from server#1
and others are getting it from server#2.

We have made the change, but for some reason it did not take effect
across both servers. Can anyone recommend where we should look or how
to edit both of the default.aspx pages (if in fact there is one for each

We have looked on both server but are unsure which or where to find the
proper one to edit.

Any help with this would be great..

When you made the change did you access the page from the server  file
system, or via the site URL? You should be doing the latter, sounds
like maybe you did it using the former?

Yes.. from our site URL (Ex.. http://corporateportal.company.com)

How about checkin/checkout status on the page? Are those that can see
it site admins and those that cannot less privileged? Have you
confirmed it's not a client-side caching issue (e.g. try a Shift-Refresh
in the browser)?
