Customizing the "Discussion Forum" web part...

Is it possible to customize, as well as export and import, the
discussion forum out-of-the-box web part?

If so anyone have some documentation handy for doing this?

I think this should be doable.

Try this, go to the SCHEMA.XML for CUSTLIST and search for "Export to spreadsheet", copy the row tag <tr> and then add it to the SCHEMA.XML for DISCUSS
iisreset.
Make a back up of the files before trying this. Let me try first and get back with you.

It worked but the excel is not displaying "Text" column of the discussion board.
It only displays ID, Subject, Posted By, Modified columns.
