Customize Announcements summary view

  Asked By: Rohit Date: Aug 09 Category: Sharepoint Views: 14423

I would like to remove the 'by' and Author line that shows on the
summary view of Announcements. I found a post on how to do this; which
told me to remove the following code from the view using SPD.

>

by
<Field
Name="Author"/>

<td
width=20% align="]]
>

right

<![CDATA
[" nowrap class="ms-vb"> ]]

When I do this it does remove the 'by' and 'Author' but now my Modified
date is below my title instead of to the right of it.

Could someone tell me what I need to do to keep the date to the right
of the title? I'm not familiar will XML coding. Also, if someone
could recommend a book/web resource that will help me learn to XML code
that would be great.

This is easy to do without having to use code.
1. Go to your announcements list and create a new, standard view. (I
called mine "Welcome")
2. For the fields, select Title, Modified, and Body
3. Sort descending by modified date
4. set the filter to: Expires = _____ (leave it blank), OR Expires >=
[Today]
5. **In the style section, set the style to "Basic Table"

Now, put the Announcements web part on the page, and in the web part
properties, change the view to "Welcome" and click OK.
