Got a bit of a puzzle here......

Hosted WSS site (therefore no domain membership)
Cross-Site groups defined at top-level site.
Cross-Site group given permission to lower level site.

I have tried to setup some custom site groups on the lower-level sites to limit what people can and can't do and to also give some cross-site groups more rights than others.

On my test site the custom site groups show up under the change permissions page for a particular list, but on another list (the first production list I applied the change to!! :-)) the custom site groups do not appear.

Have I managed to inadvertantly do something stoopid or is this a known problem. If so, what can I do about it. Recreating the lists is not an option I want to contemplate!
