Custom Send To Destination - Error

Asked By: Anushka    Date: Nov 23    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 3215

When I try to route a document from my Document Center to my Record
Center I get the following error: "Could not find the destination item
or folder on this server."

When I press the "Click here to te
st" link, the destination document library is properly displayed.

I can get this functionality to work within a web app but when I try
to send a document to the Record Center (a different web app) I get
the error. Please don't tell me this is a limitation of SP?

No. It should work.

Are they running in the same Web Application?

Try Replacing any %20 with a space and visa versa.

What user are you running when you do the routing? There is a known
issue with routing to the Record Center if you are doing this under the
same account as the app  pool. It might also be a problem with one of
the routing rules in your Record Center setup - where are you trying to
"Send To"?

Thank you for your advice. I would like to further qualify what I
am trying to achieve by giving an example. In the document  Centre,
I have a number documents libraries containing documents of multiple
content types. In the record  Centre, I have corresponding document
libraries and I would like to route  documents from the Document
Centre to the Records Centre in the appropriate document library.

Doc Centre Rec Center
HR –> HR
Development –> Development
IT –> IT

It is my understanding that I cannot use the routing rules because
the document libraries contain multiple content types and that a
contain type may be found in more than one document library. I am
looking at using the custom  send-to functionality. Is it possible?
If so what should be the URL? I have tried http://recordCentre/HR,
http://recordCentre/HR/, http://recordCentre/HR/Forms/AllItems.aspx

If I put the url for the recordrouting webservice
(http://recordcentre/_vti_bin/officialfile.asmx), the document is
correctly routed.

Is there a way to specify to the webservice create the record at
this specific location, something like

without need to create a custom router?

The Record center  is designed to store all documents of the same content
type in the same destination  library. It doesn't care where they
originated, just what the content type is when they arrive in the
records center. If you want to store records from different document
libraries that are the same content type in different areas of the
record center you will need to create different variations of the
content types.
