Custom Quick Launch in SP Site

Can you please tell me various approaches to create a custom quick launch/ left menu
for my sharepoint site.

All the approaches that you follow for any web site  can be implemented in SharePoint sites too.
We had created left  menu which read from an XML file.
One more left menu just read contents form a list.
SharePoint is basically a ASP.NET app, so go ahead and customize it the way you want. Just keep in mind the solution should be easy to maintain.

1. One way is you can tweak the existing QuickLaunch Bar with different property settings.
2. create  a Delgate control which is nothing but create a usercontrol which includes ASP.Net 2.0 Menu/Navigation control and replace the default quick  launch control with custom  Delegate control.
3. Create a user control and directly refer the user control in place of QuickLaunch Control.

Use this web part which can render any list in a customized format u want ....best used in case of navgation as well....
