Custom List not edible (all the fields in gray color)

Asked By: Katlyn    Date: Nov 27    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 4245

I created a custom task list with a custom content type. After I created
an new item, there is no way I can click any field (in gray color) of the list.
For a regular list (fields are in blue color) , when my mouse over the list and
click the small arrow icon, there will be a dropdown list with option such as
'View Item', 'Edit Item', etc. But this custom list does react at all when mouse
over it. I think I must miss some
attributes setting when I create this custom task list and content type. Please
let me know if you have any suggestion.

Is the problem with list  or with the content  type? That is, do you have the
same problem when you use a default content type?

Also, have you tried editing the view to see if your edit  menu is on a field
not currently displayed in the view?

If you built the list  or content  type as a feature did you make sure to include
a Title field  that was a type  somethign like 'Title linked with edit' That's
the field that displays the edit  menu. The Title field is the only one that can
be created  that way and if its not in the list view you are using the list won't
be editable.
