Custom InsertFeatureMenuItems

Asked By: Madhavi    Date: Sep 03    Category: MOSS    Views: 595

I googled a lot, but found no proper solution. I have created some ECB
menu items through features. Now, I want some of these items to appear for
some lists and for other lists, they should be hidden. After some research,
I found that, this is actually implemented in a function called
InsertFeatureMenuItems in the Core.js file. As it is not advisable to modify
this file, I am not sure how to achieve this functionality. Unfortunately,
MS has not provided a Custom function for this. Can anyone help me with

You can limit menu entries to a particular TYPE of list by setting the
ListType attribute in the Feature file. There is no way out of the box to
limit menu entries in different instances of the same type of list.

Have you tried using javascript / jquery to hide/show menu items as per your
requirement ? yes. core.js does provide all the methods. You would need to
overwrite them in order to have custom actions.
