Custom Error Pages in Sharepoint Services

Asked By: Brenda    Date: Feb 22    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1282

I want to customize the error pages in our sharepoint services. Do I have
access to this or can I do this, or must it be done by the host administrator?

SharePoint uses the custom  error pages  specified by IIS. These are stored
on the file system of the web front end servers. Since you are in a hosted
environment I don't think you will have access to make any changes.

but perhaps not all is lost. IIS allows for
customization at the site or virtual directory level, and many ISPs provide
a way for customers to upload custom  error pages. You'll need to check with
your ISP to see if they offer a "Control Panel" functionality for managing
your web sites. If so, then it's possible that there will be a way to do
this.

Within IIS, there are some error  pages that can't be customized, however.

For IIS 6.0, see

For IIS 7.0, see
