Custom Edit Form for DocLib

Asked By: Arturo    Date: Dec 14    Category: MOSS    Views: 899

I've done custom edit forms for custom lists several times using SPD on a MOSS
site. Cannot figure out how to do same for a DocLib. The check in/out feature
(whether enabled or not) seems to cause it to BOMB when we use the same process
that succeeds with Lists. I've only found 1 BLOG reference, it had the same Q,
no solution.

Anybody know how to do this using only SPD?

When you say it bombs, what exactly does it do? Is there an error message
(in the page, in the Event logs, or in the SharePoint logs), and if so, what
does it say?

Perhaps I mis-spoke. It doen't actually BOMB. I am using a custom  edit form
because I do not want a user who is uploading a document to even see all the
columns of meta-data which are optional.

What happens is, when user hits "check-in" button, the "check-in" never
occurs. Therefore, any workflows we have on "create" always stay in the
"starting" mode.

We even turned off "check in/out", yet after uploading, the item is in a
"checked-out" status. Very strange.

Is "Require checkout for editing" still enabled?

The other possible issue might be if you have a required field that is not
populated.
