Custom Document Library Issues (Versioning and Icons)

Asked By: Rey    Date: Jul 22    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1086

I have successfully created a new area template and custom document
library.

Issue 1:
Unless the custom document library has a type ID of 101, some parts of
Sharepoint do not recognize this custom list as a "Document Library"
even though I have assigned the basetype = 1. Search, for instance,
returns MS Word documents with the STS_ListItem icon instead of the
Word icon. Has anyone resolved/seen this issue?

Issue 2:
Setting VersioningEnabled="TRUE" on the LIST element in the Lists
section seems to do nothing. Has anyone gotten VersioningEnabled to
turn on in custom list definitions?

How did you create a new area  template and create a custom  document library? Copy an existing area definition and copy webtempsps.xml and rename the copy to webtempsps....xml and rename the copy of the area defintion to sps...?

Have you looked at http://www.devx.com/dotnet/Article/27673/0 ?

The link below is high-level and doesn't even attempt to go into the details of the complexity of my issue.

Bob, is the custom  doc lib in your custom area  template working fine
with regard to my two issues?
